Single
Grain
Single Grain whiskies have benefited from the worldwide
interest in the Single Malt industry. In the search for rare and
remote distilleries, this unknown category has been highlighted
to the connoisseur. Historically grain whiskies have been distilled
in continuous stills with high volumes for the Blended Scotch industry.
Single Grains are produced at a single distillery from water, wheat,
corn (maize) and unmalted barley - they do not use the copper pot
still. Many are now considered on a par with single malts.

Dumbarton
35 Year Old 46% alc.vol
Non Chill Filtered, a lovely rare bottling from the
Dumbarton GRAIN distillery.
Tasting Notes: Beautiful ripples
of sweetness develop from the aromatic nose. Each wave pulsates
with a new sensation. Palate develops with light, fresh notes. Cannot
miss the slightly sweet background. Like summer nectar to a bee.
The well rounded finish, compliments the earlier development.

North
British 32 Year Old 46.0% alc.vol
Edinburgh’s last working distillery, widely
known as ‘NB’. North British does its own malting on
site using only maize, with a high percentage of green malt.
Tasting Notes: A sweetish and aromatic
nose with a smooth, firm and slippery palate. With a finish of clotted
cream this is a pleasant summer whisky.
