Tasting Notes:

Dailuaine 1973 @ 50% alc.vol (US 100% proof)
Aromatic nose. Hints of smoke and chocolate with a tantalizing release of lemon zest. Palate develops with a strong malt background and provides light peaty notes. A well developed malt whisky with heaps of character. Individuality in abundance.

Dailuaine Distillery - Area: Speyside

Status: Open

Pronounced “dal-u-ayn”. Translation from Gaelic is “green valley”. Beautifully located between the Ben Rinnes mountain and the river Spey. The distillery was established 1852 and is a mile of the Aberlour to Grantown road in the hamlet of Carron. It sources its water from the Bailliemullich Burn and has a local supply of barley. The Dailuaine distillery operates with 6 stills (three large pairs) and produces a full-bodied Speyside spirit (it is a malt with Johnnie Walker). It replaced the traditional floor maltings with a Saladin Box until 1983 when it began to source from one of the industrial maltings. All Dailuaine whisky is tankered away to be filled into casks at a central warehousing complex. The whisky is lightly peated.
